This image shows some of the things that are in the Universe arranged in order of scale — although not actually to scale. In this diagram you can see (bottom left) subatomic particles, an atom, a molecule (of DNA), red blood cells, a human, the Earth, the Solar System, the Milky Way and, lastly, the Universe as a whole.
The universe is not just bigger than we can imagine, it’s fair to say that it’s bigger than we imagine we can imagine.
Scale of universe is like the old videos and films going from sub atomic sizes up to universe size in steps of 10. You can drag the bat to move from quantum foam at 10-35 up to the estimated size of our universe about 10 26. It’s very nicely done and though you still won’t be able to grasp the full immensity of the scale, it gives a sense of it.
You can start Exploring the Universe from the “quantum foam” – the first physical sense. Continue through neutrinos, quarks and moving to the chemical world of atoms and molecules. Then zoom out to the Biology World of DNA,proteins, viruses, bacteria, small organisms, human and population level. You can end up in the deep space, passing through the Solar system,
Zoom from the edge of the universe to the quantum foam of spacetime and learn the scale of things along the way!
